The Filipino tradition of Lantern making ( Parol )
Christmas is in the air and the lights are colorfully lit. I am always a little kid who loves Christmas and everybody prepares for it. In our chapel, the locals are already putting some decorations for the coming Simbang gabi or Misa de gallo. It is a Spanish term which means morning mass. What I thought of contributing to the chapel for decoration was a lantern made up of recycled materials. It is a big one which is basically made up of recyclable materials. The lantern has been idling in the company warehouse for a year now until a friend retrieve it from the warehouse after writing their company a letter asking to let the lantern be donated instead of letting it become corroded with rust from the warehouse. Good thing, it was approved. It is a good idea. And good thing begets good things. Can you guess what it is made up of?
